ST. GEORGE MARATHON PRIVACY POLICY:

We collect information when you register or volunteer for a race or other event, such as your name, gender, mailing address, phone number(s), birthdate, personal email address, emergency contact information, race history, shirt size, weight division, disability division, race-day availability, and volunteer history. Our third-party service providers may also collect your payment card information when you submit your registration. Race activities and results. We collect information when you participate in a race or other event that we organize. For example, we may collect information about your progress along the course, your race times and splits, and your finishing results. We may share this information with the general public through our Services, as described in the section below titled “How We Share Information.” Information you provide to us directly or through the Services. We collect information that you provide to us directly or through the Services, such as when you post questions or comments, respond to surveys, rate the Apps, or communicate with us. Information collected automatically. When you use our Services, we or our third-party service providers may automatically receive and record certain information. For example, this may include your device’s IP address, user-agent string, information about your use of the Services during your current session and over time (including the pages you view and the files you download), the date and time of your visit, links you click, searches conducted, the website visited before navigating to the Services, your software and hardware attributes (including browser and operating system type and version, App version, device type, and device identifiers), and your general location inferred from IP address. To obtain such information, we or our third-party service providers may use the following technologies to recognize your device and collect information about your Services usage: Server logs. When you use the Services, we automatically receive and record certain information from your computer (or other device) and your browser. To obtain such information, we may use server logs or applications that recognize your device and gather information about its online activity. Cookies. We also use cookies on the Services. Cookies are small files that are stored on your device by your web browser. A cookie allows us to recognize whether you have visited before and may store user preferences and other information. We will treat such combined information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.   HOW WE USE INFORMATION THAT WE COLLECT We and our service providers may use the information that we collect for a variety of purposes, including: Providing the Services. To provide our Services to you, organize races and events, fulfill the terms of any agreement you have with us, respond to your requests, and for other purposes related to managing our organization; Communicating with you. To communicate with you regarding your events for which you have registered or volunteered, important updates regarding our Services, and other administrative issues; Sending St. George Leisure Department-related newsletters or other promotional messages. To send you newsletters or other promotional messages regarding our Services and the events that we organize; Tailoring our content and advertisements. To tailor content on the Services and target our advertising; Conducting analytics and improving our services. To count and recognize visitors to the Services, analyze how visitors use the Services, improve the Services, create new products and services, and conduct analytics, including as described in the section below titled “Third-Party Analytics”; Compiling aggregated and de-identified information. To compile aggregated and de-identified statistics or reports that we may share with our partners or other third parties; Legal purposes. For posting marathon results in local newsprint organizations.   HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION We share information with third parties for a variety of reasons, including as follows: Service providers. We use third-party service providers to help us manage and improve our Services and organize races and events. These service providers may collect and use your information to assist us in achieving the purposes discussed in this Privacy Policy. For example, we may use third parties to assist with race events, mail printed materials to runners or volunteers, communicate with runners or volunteers, perform data storage and processing services, process payments on our behalf, tailor our advertising, and perform analytics, including as described in the section below tiled “Third-Party Analytics.” Other users of the Services. We may allow you to share information directly with other users of the Services. For example, if you post questions or comments to other users through the Services, add information to your profile, respond to surveys or requests to rate the Apps, or use other features of the Services, then your questions, comments, profile, or other information may be seen by other users of the Services. Please ensure when using these features that you do not submit any information that you do not want to be shared with other users or the public. Our partners. We may share information about final race results with our partners, including other non-profit organizations, sports organizations, or researchers who may use the final race results to confirm race eligibility/disqualification, generate reports, or conduct academic research. Live updates and final race results. If you participate in a race that we organize, we may share certain information about you with the general public. For example, we may share your name, age group, gender, state and country of residence, and final race results through our Websites and Apps. We also may share your real-time location during a race (such as your progress along the course), race times and splits, and final results so that others can track your progress. Third-party plugins. The Services may integrate certain third-party plugins (such as a Facebook “like” button and Twitter “follow” button). Even if you do not click on these plugins, they may collect information about you, such as your IP address and the pages that you view. They also may set and/or access a cookie or use similar tracking technologies. These plugins are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing them. Legal purposes. We may use or share your information with third parties when we believe, in our sole reasonable discretion, that doing so is necessary: To comply with applicable law or a court order, subpoena, or other legal process; To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal or prohibited activities, suspected fraud, violations of our rules or terms and conditions, or situations involving threats to other athletes, volunteers or users, our property, or the property or physical safety of any person or third party; To establish, protect, or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. We may share aggregated and de-identified information with third parties, such as by publishing or sharing reports with third parties about trends in the usage of the St. George Marathon.   THIRD-PARTY ANALYTICS We partner with certain third parties to collect information to engage in analytics, auditing, research, and reporting. These third parties may use server logs, web beacons, tags, pixels, mobile advertising IDs (such as Apple’s IDFA or Google’s Advertising ID), and similar technologies, and they may set and access cookies on your computer or other device. Registration Policies:
...sh their registration by the September 1st deadline to be entered into the race. Deferrals: Deferring allows you to receive a complimentary entry to the following year's race. There is a deferral fee of $25.00 if you defer before September 1. If you defer between September 1 - October 4, there will be a $50.00 deferral fee. When you defer, you will receive a confirmation email confirming your deferment. You are not automatically entered for next year's event. You will need to register for next year's event using the link provided to you in an email when registration opens. Your deferment credit may only be used once and will expire within two years. FUTURE MARATHON DATES: October 4th, 2025 October 3rd, 2026 October 2nd, 2027 October 7th, 2028     How to Guide -Switch, Transfer, or Defer 2024 Marathon Registration   Refunds: Consistent with the running industry, no refunds will be given. You can defer your registration up until the day before the race, October 4. Unless those who are on active military duty and are deployed for service (a copy of deployment orders is required).   CANCELLATION POLICY: It is the primary goal of the St. George Marathon to ensure a safe event for all involved. We will not expose participants or the community as a whole to undue risk as a result of staging our event. There may be times when we feel it is unsafe to continue with the race. While we recognize the aspirations and commitment of those that have entered the race we will make decisions about the race based on the safety of our as a whole. Furthermore, if the community resources are threatened we will act to protect them from unnecessary stress. Specifically, when weather or other physical conditions present a danger to participants as a whole, we will maintain the right to cancel the race. Less threatening conditions could result in an alteration of the course or race length to promote a more safe result for the participants. These conditions will be recognized as “an act of God” and will not result in the refunding of race entry fees or future race credits. The staging of a race of this magnitude results in substantial expense prior to the actual race itself. Thus, in the event of a forced cancellation of the event, it is very likely that the financial impact on the race would not be any different than if the race was held without compromise. Specifically, when weather or other physical conditions present a danger to participants as a whole, we will maintain the right to cancel the race. Less threatening conditions could result in an alteration of the course or race length to promote a more safe result for the participants. These conditions will be recognized as “an act of God” and will not result in the refunding of race entry fees or future race credits. The staging of a race of this magnitude results in substantial expense prior to the actual race itself. Thus, in the event of a forced cancellation of the event, it is very likely that the financial impact on the race would not be any different than if the race was held without compromise. Severe thunderstorms with the threat of lightning or severe heat that are forecasted to continue throughout the day of the event may result in cancellation of the event for all participants. In the event that a cancellation or alteration will take place, St. George Marathon will advise participants through various traditional and non-traditional media channels on a timely basis. There will be NO REFUNDS However, this year we will offer transfers and deferrals with a $28.00 or $54.25 processing fee to change.  Below is our schedule with deadlines. To be clear, St George Marathon understands that unforeseen circumstances can arise and DOES allow the opportunity to officially transfer bib numbers until September 15th each year. It’s an added service the organization is proud to offer, as most large races follow the industry standard of “no transfers, no refunds, and no exceptions.”   April 1 - August 31-$28.00 for Transfers & Deferrals September 1 - September 15-$54.25 for Transfers ONLY, no transfers will be accepted after the 15th. September 1 - October 4 - $54.25 for Deferrals ONLY   Transfers:  If you choose to transfer your entry to another person, you are responsible for arranging payment for the entry with the person you are transferring it to. To transfer distances, the distance you wish to transfer to must not be sold out. You can upgrade or downgrade prior to September 1 (while spots remain). You will be required to pay the current cost difference. In addition, you will pay a $28.00 or $54.25 USD change fee. If necessary, you can transfer between events and to another person at the same time. Use the deferment process to transfer to next year's event. IMPORTANT:  This is the ONLY authorized way to transfer your entry to another person. Bib numbers are NON-transferable. The selling and/or giving away of a St. George Marathon bib number is not allowed and will result in disqualification of both the original bib owner and the runner using the bib number. Both runners will be prohibited from participating in the St. George Marathon for a minimum of two years.  To transfer your entry, log into your Participant account. Once logged in, select the ‘Transfer Request’ button on the dashboard screen and follow the prompts. The participant that is receiving the transfer MUST finish their registration by the September 1st deadline to be entered into the race. Legacy Club Banquet:
Attention Legacy Club Members — The annual post-race dinner for Club members will be held on Saturday, October 5th at the Dixie Center South Exhibit Hall - 1835 S. Convention Center Drive (doors open at 4:45 pm). Club members receive complimentary tickets for themselves and one guest with additional tickets subject to a fee. Please RSVP by September 16th. Include the following as well as any additional information that may help in the review process: Athlete's name, email address, mailing address, phone number, sex, age, date of birth, and what you anticipate your completion time will be at the 2024 St. George Marathon. If you do not have qualifying times for marathon or half marathon distances and you are a first-time marathoner who has run at a high level in shorter distances, i.e. college cross country and believe your training and resume should qualify you for Elite consideration please submit your runner resume with a reference letter from your college or another coach. This may not guarantee a spot depending on the other applications that are received.
