Awards procedure: overall award winners and finishers 1 through 4 in each division will be recognized from our awards stage; finishers 5 through 8 will pick up awards in a designated area beginning at 12 Noon.
All expenses paid trip to run in the Ibigawa Marathon/Half Marathon in Ibigawa, Japan in November, 2008, to the top male/female runners, Open and Masters.
Travel package awards to 2nd and 3rd place male and females.
Special awards to overall top 8 men and women.
Unique plaques to overall winners, 1-8 in each division.
MURDOCK CHEVROLET PROVIDES PRIZE MONEY TO UTAH RUNNERS-
We are excited to announce that Murdock Chevrolet (St. George Marathon Sponsor for the past 5 years) has expanded U-R the heart kind of service to Orem, Utah (Murdock University Hyundai) and to Price, Utah (Murdock Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, GMC) to Tremonton, Utah (Murdock Chevrolet, Buick) and to Logan, Utah (Murdock Chevrolet, Hyundai Suzuki) which means our prize money has expanded also. In the past we have awarded $100.00 to the 1st place overall finishers in both men's and women's events who are from Davis and Salt Lake Counties. With our expansion we will now award $100.00 to the 1st place finishers in all these divisions in Box Elder County, Utah County, Carbon County and Cache County. We are proud to be associated with this Great Marathon and wish ALL runners the best this coming October!
DEL MONTE SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD-
The Del Monte cup has been given away for the past 25 years. This UNIQUE trophy stands about 4 feet tall and is the envy of all participants when they see it. This award celebrates the person that has achieved personal greatness in their lives. This award has been given to runners and wheelchair participants of all ages and circumstances, anyone we feel has gone the extra mile in overcoming adversity in their training and personal lives to run the marathon. If you have a personal story, or would like to recommend another runner for this award, please mail or fax your nomination by Friday, September 12, 2008 to: St. George Marathon, 86 S. NEW!HONORARY RUNNER AWARD-
The St. George Marathon created this award in 2006 to recognize one individual each year that has shown perserverance and determination. This individual is someone that has a goal of finishing the marathon but cannot make the 26.2 mile run on their own. This person may be pushed in a jogger by family or friends. SPECTRUM SILVER SHOE AWARD-
This award and trophy goes to the top local male, female, young male and female runners within The Spectrum's readership area recognizing outstanding achievement. Great Harvest Bread provides a year's supply of bread to the winners.
